    March, 2017

Welcome to Jefferson Township Middle School’s Home Page!

Thank you for visiting this month!  Student involvement has been center stage this past month at JTMS!

First, JTMS students recognized Human Trafficking Awareness.  Project Stay Gold students presented in every social studies classroom to their peers about the subject of Modern Day Slavery.  The group also hosted an evening screening of the movie, "The True Cost" with a PRIDE grant from the JTEA in an effort to raise awareness about the human and environmental factors that contribute to today's fashion industry.  Students closed out the awareness campaign by selling PSG bracelets and hoodies in the cafeteria during lunch time, with the funds going towards future educational and abolitionist programs.

Also, the Math Counts Club at JTMS recently participated in the North Central Math Counts Competition at New Jersey Institute of Technology.  JTMS student, Archita Jayaram, took home the “Best in School” trophy while participating in the math competition.  Congratulations, Archita!

And finally, every year, Middle Schools from across Morris County identify one 8th grade student as their recipient for the Morris County Middle School Leadership Award.  The Morris County Superintendents honor students for their actions and deeds that represent model citizenship and leadership in their respective school communities.  Honored students have demonstrated that their academic, extracurricular, and community leadership has had a positive impact on their school environment and that they serve as role models for others.  This year, three Jefferson Township Middle School student finalists were interviewed by teachers and administrators for consideration for this prestigious award.  Please join me in congratulating all three students Gabrielle Ciesa, Allie Gesek, and Rupali Sinha for this honor.  Congratulation goes to Rupali Sinha for becoming the Jefferson Middle School Leadership Award recipient for the 2016-2017 school year!  Rupali will join Dr. Tierney, Superintendent of Schools, and me at the Morris County Middle School Leadership Award dinner ceremony in early May.  We are proud of Rupali, Gabrielle, and Allie for a job well done and for their efforts to make the JT Middle School a rewarding and special place to learn and grow.

Thank you for visiting and please be sure to check out our webpage, on the left, for upcoming events, announcements, and activities for JTMS students.

    Sincerely,
    Dr. Cooke

    Principal
